Soccer Rules
The ‘Girl Rule’
- If a female has possession of the ball in her half of the field (the half that her team is defending), a male player from the opposing team is not allowed to guard or dispossess her. Only a female from the opposing team is allowed to dispossess or guard another female in her defensive half of the field.
- A male player may only dispossess or guard a female once she crosses midfield and enters her attacking half of the field.
- If there is a 50/50 ball in a female’s defensive half of the field, a male is allowed to play for the ball. However, if the female wins the 50/50 ball, the male player must step away, and the ‘Girl Rule’ applies as outlined above.
Shooting Rules
- A female can take a shot at any time.
- For a male to take a shot, a female must first touch the ball in her team’s attacking half (the half in which her team is trying to score). Once the female makes a touch, the ball is considered ‘live’ (meaning any player on the team is now allowed to shoot).
Throw-ins and Corner Kicks
- If the ball goes out of bounds for a throw-in or a corner kick in the team’s attacking half and the ball is not live yet, a female may take the throw or the kick, thereby making the ball live.
Live Ball Rules
- The live ball process starts over if the ball is played back into the team’s defensive half.
- If the ball has been made live and goes out for a throw-in, corner kick, or goal kick, the ball remains live.
- If the attacking team loses possession in their attacking half but later regains possession of the ball, the ball remains live as long as it did not cross the midfield line.
No Offsides
No offsides are enforced in the game.
SPORTSMANSHIP
The idea of LXC is to have fun. We hope that all participants keep that in mind when becoming involved. Although the games may become intense, you still can be competitive while maintaining good sportsmanship. With this said, any behavior deemed unacceptable by staff may result in suspension and/or ejection from a game or the league.
Abuse of staff will not be tolerated.
LXC reserves the right to remove a player from a game or a league if they are considered to be bringing down the quality of the league. LXC will not tolerate fighting! Fighting will be an automatic ejection from any game and in most cases ejection from the league for the remainder of the season.
