LXC Volleyball Rules (C/C-)

General

  • Legal play (body parts): Whole body
  • Number of players to start the game: 3
  • Centerline Violations: Only if it interferes with the other team
  • Points in a game:
    • 2 rally score games to 25 (cap at 27, win by 2)
    • 1 rally score game to (cap at 17, win by 2)
  • King Louie’s scoring:
    • 2 rally games to 21 (cap at 23, win by 2)
    • 1 rally score game to 15 (cap at 17, win by 2)
  • Let serve (ball hits the net and goes over): Legal
  • If the ball hits the line: It is in

Serving

  • Feet must be behind the line
  • No attacking the serve: The front row cannot leave their feet to block the serve

Passing/Digging

  • Multiple contacts passing 1st ball: Yes
  • Multiple contacts digging 1st ball: Yes
  • In sand volleyball, if a hard-driven ball is hit: Momentary legal lifts are allowed (In indoor hard court, they are not)
  • No 2-handed hits

Setting

  • During the 1st contact of the ball over the net, players are allowed to pass the ball with any body part in any fashion that is not a lift.
  • The second contact (usually the set) and third contact (usually the attack over the net) should be relatively clean and free of double contacts. This means that the players’ hands contact the ball simultaneously.
  • There is no required action by your hands, and spin is not always the ultimate reflection of double contacts; however, it is usually a good indicator.

Attacking/ Spiking

  • Players leaving the ground inside the 10ft line: Front row only
  • Open hand tips/dinks: Legal
  • Touching/hitting the net: Not allowed

Rotation

  • All players must rotate every serve.
  • Max rotation spots: 3 front, 3 back

Coed

  • Number of men/women: 1 female minimum / 4 male max
  • Women must play the 3rd ball if 2 or more men touch the ball before it goes over the net.

Court

  • Posts will act as the antenna. The ball must be completely inside the post to be in play.
  • Pursuit of the ball across the court past the center line is not allowed.
  • Team has a 5-minute grace period before each set before a forfeit.

Tournament

  • All games before the semi-finals will be games to 15 (cap at 17). If a team wins the first 2 games, the third game will not be played.
  • Semi-finals/Finals are normal games with no cap.

Standing for Tournament:

  • Total win/loss record is the first thing we go by to determine a team’s place.
  • If there is a tie, we go by who beat whom.
  • If it’s a 3-way tie or more and it can’t be settled by who beat whom, we go by total sets won.

SPORTSMANSHIP

The idea of LXC is to have fun. We hope that all participants keep that in mind when becoming involved. Although the games may become intense, you still can be competitive while maintaining good sportsmanship. With this said, any behavior deemed unacceptable by staff may result in suspension and/or ejection from a game or the league.

Abuse of staff will not be tolerated.

LXC reserves the right to remove a player from a game or a league if they are considered to be bringing down the quality of the league. LXC will not tolerate fighting! Fighting will be an automatic ejection from any game and in most cases ejection from the league for the remainder of the season.
